Anita Johnston, PhD
Author of Eating in the Light of the Moon
Director of the ‘ Ai Pono Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program in Hawaii

 

Speaker bio
Dr. Johnston developed Hawaii’s first inpatient eating disorders treatment program at Kahi Mohala Hospital in 1986 and is an expert in treating a wide range of eating disorders from anorexia and bulimia to compulsive/binge eating and eating disorders associated with severe obesity and bariatric surgery. Dr. Johnston has a private practice specializing in women’s issues and is a recognized international workshop presenter. In her work, she uses metaphor and storytelling, in addition to her training as a clinical psychologist, to explain the complex issues that underlie disordered eating behavior.
